About me

I am Dipl.-Inf. Maik Luxa, working freelance as a trainer, coach, and consultant. In my main role, I head software and systems development at Fraunhofer IIS / EZRT, where robot-assisted industrial computed tomography has been built since 2008: from software architecture through machine learning to delivery. What I recommend, I do myself. Every day, in real research and industry projects.
I founded LuxaLabs because method expertise and hands-on R&D experience rarely come together in one person. But if you want to embed AI in your organization for the long term, you need both.
From day-to-day engineering
Most trainers and consultants in the field of agile methods and AI integration teach methods they have never applied under real project conditions themselves. I come from day-to-day research and engineering work and apply what I teach every day. When I talk to an R&D leader about merging software and organization, I know the reality there from my own work.
Three roles, one perspective

Research practitioner. In agile software development since 2010, Scrum Master since 2012, head of a software and systems engineering team at Fraunhofer EZRT since 2016. Ongoing industry projects in automotive, aerospace, energy technology, and European research. Co-inventor of patent EP3286554B1 on industrial computed tomography.
University lecturer. Adjunct lecturer at Fachhochschule Südwestfalen (university of applied sciences) since 2021, teaching “Agile Project Management” and “Introduction to Scrum”. Six semesters of experience. The 2025/26 curriculum includes an integrated ChatGPT exercise in the Kanban lecture.
Trainer, coach, and consultant. Freelance since 2021. Engagements include the aerospace industry (in German and English), a municipal energy utilities group with several city utilities and grid companies, public administration (ongoing training series in 2025), and Fraunhofer research (agile innovation development with AI-supported Customer Discovery).
“His presentations stand out because of his talent for condensing complex ideas for an audience without talking down to them. What he says sticks. Unlike with many presenters, you walk away with a clear picture of what has been said.”
